These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the BD 2FA Authenticator mobile app (“the App”), published by BestDid (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The App

BD 2FA Authenticator generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP, RFC 6238) used for two-factor authentication. The App runs entirely on your device. We do not operate a server for it, do not have an account system, and do not receive any of your data.

2. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Choosing a strong PIN and keeping it confidential.
  • Choosing a strong backup password and storing it somewhere safe. We cannot recover your encrypted backups if you lose this password.
  • Keeping your device’s operating system up to date.
  • Backing up your accounts before resetting, wiping, or replacing your device.
  • The lawful use of the App.

3. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for personal or internal business use. You must not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App except as permitted by law.
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App.
  • Use the App to break the law or to violate the rights of others.

4. No Account / No Cloud

The App has no user account and no cloud sync. All TOTP secrets, settings, and the PIN hash live in your device’s secure keystore (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). If you uninstall the App or wipe your device without first exporting an encrypted backup, the data is gone.

5. Backups

The App can produce encrypted backup files (.bdtotp). These files are encrypted with a key derived from your chosen backup password. We never see these files. If your password is lost, the backup is unrecoverable — we cannot help.

6. No Warranty

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or that it will work without interruption.

Two-factor authentication codes generated by the App rely on your device clock being accurate. We are not responsible for codes that fail to verify because of incorrect device time.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BestDid is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the App is limited to the amount you paid for the App, which for the free tier is zero.

8. Changes

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. If we change these Terms, the “Last updated” date above will change and the revised version will be posted at the same URL. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it or by using the in-app Delete All Data option (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete All Data). We may discontinue the App in our sole discretion.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which BestDid is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
